Fortune Favours the Brave - Vietnamese Proverb. Chau Doc. Vietnam.

Hello Chau Doc!

Room with a view.

Chau Doc in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam is close to the river border of Vietnam and Cambodia. Which is exactly why we are here. This is where we catch a high speed boat to Phnom Penh. The Cambodian Border is only about 1 hour away, then after border control we travel on a further 4 hours by boat.

In the meantime there was no more perfect way than to chug along the Bassac River and view the Chau Doc Floating Fish Farm in the late afternoon sun.

The floating fisheries are made up of Khmer, Khmer-Cambodian, Cham and Vietnamese people.

We made a slight detour to visit a Cham family business via a wooden bridge. Their houses stand on high stilts, where you can see the high-water marks. Today, the Cham are Muslims and mainly earn their living by weaving and textile trade.

Back on the boat and we chugged back along the fisheries.
